I continute creating work in my spare time, sometimes outside the realm of graphic design. I beleive it gives me an advantage to learn about and practice with various different mediums and keep perfecting those skills. I also organize and participate in a lot of different events within and surrounding the design community, and do my best to stay involved in current events.

I was part of the team that organzied, coordinated and curated
Swash & Serif, a group typography show put on by
Ligatures and the
Toronto Design Directory. The show openened on November13, 2014 and ran for a week. We had a packed house at
The Black Cat and tons of interest. A reporter from
Torontoist came by and did a short piece on our show too. It was a great event with lots of interest from all over the city and even other provinces. We will be making it an annual event. Photo by

I shot a collection of art tools (brushes, pens, knives, paint, etc) to use as a motif for the
Swash & Serif website and promotional materials. After shooting and editing the photos, they were used and cut and pasted in various ways to create all the graphic assets we needed for promoting the show online.

Oil on glass.

I participated in an event organized by Sister 2 Sister, where myself and a number of other women spoke to about 200 eighth grade girls about our respective careers. I told them what it's like to work as a web and graphic designer, what that means and what it's like to be a woman within the industry. It was a great experience to connect with these girls and encourage them to look into the career that I love so much, especially as I started creating websites for fun when I was their age. You can view the CTV piece on
their website.

Acrylic on paper.

Pen and watercolour.

I created this printed size guide poster to help me with visualizing the size of copy once it's printed compared to the screen. There are four typefaces in various weights in 17 sizes, and with a to-scale ruler along the bottom to help measure scale.

Carved lino for printmaking.

Successful lino print.

Brush pen and gold graffiti marker.

A silly poster about the "end of the world" (12/21/12). I was skeptical to say the least.

I shot this ampersand balloon at the
Swash & Serif show. The others say it's creepy. I... can't really disagree.
